Health & Safety

1.MIXING MORTAR

Dry or damp cement and wet concrete/mortar can cause irritation and burns to eyes and skin. Suitable eye protection and PVC gloves should be worn when handling these materials. If contact with skin does occur, wash with plenty of water. If contact with eyes occurs, irrigate with plenty of water. If irritation/burning persists, seek immediate medical attention.

2.CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Pressure washers and chemical cleansers are not recommended for use on our paving and RPC take no responsibility for any damage caused by their application. We recommend thoroughly wetting the paved area with lukewarm soapy water, then brushing it with a stiff yard broom.

3.CUTTING

Cutting products with high speed cutters produces dust. Inhalation of excessive amounts of dust over a long period of time may cause long-term health effects. Suitable eye protection (safety goggles) and respiratory protection (dust mask) should be used when cutting.

4.DE-ICING SALTS

Common salt should not be used to prevent icing or de-ice concrete paving. To prevent surface damage please use a proprietary brand of de-icing product specifically formulated for the use on wetcast concrete.

5.MANUAL HANDLING

Most of our products are heavy. Some are very heavy. Appropriate handling precautions include wearing protective footwear and obtaining assistance when moving items weighing over 20kgs.

6.RPC’s GUARANTEE

In the unlikely event of the products reaching you in a less than satisfactory condition, you should notify the retailer immediately. In addition to this, responsibility for the costs incurred for uplifting and relaying defective products may be prejudiced if, upon reasonable inspection, the defect would have been apparent prior to laying.

7.NB

Whilst every effort has been made to give sound advice, RPC can take no responsibility for any loss, damage or injury sustained in following it. Neither can RPC accept any liability in respect of products being used for any purposes other than those for which they were intended by the manufacturer.

8.SAFETY DATA SHEETS

Available on request, or from our website.

9.WEATHERING

It should be appreciated that with all products, natural curing, weathering and site conditions can cause shade variation to appear across the surface of individual paving units. This does not in any way affect the performance of the paving and any such variation will diminish over a period of time as the paving matures.

10.EFFLORESCENCE

All concrete products may, in their early life, appear to lose some intensity of colour and experience a milky-white stain on the face of the product. This is efflorescence staining. It is a temporary phenomenon and is in no way detrimental to the performance of the material and responsibility cannot be accepted for its occurrence. For further information on efflorescence staining of concrete products please call Sales Office on 01824 702493.

11. DISCLAIMER

The colours shown in our literature are as exact as photographic and printing processes will allow. We strongly recommend that colours are judged and chosen from actual materials rather than photographic representations. Although every effort is made to ensure consistency of product colour, variations between product batches can occur. We therefore recommend that, when purchasing materials, especially in the case of large quantities, they all come from the same batch and that the products are thoroughly mixed on site by drawing from a minimum of three packs. Details of pack contents are listed for the guidance of stockists. Stockists are usually prepared to split full packs for sale in any quantity. Product dimensions and weight, etc. are nominal and subject to manufacturing tolerances.
